Barn Dance
St Joseph’s PS held an “Irish Barn Dance” in Crossgar War Memorial Hall on 21st May 2010. Parents and children turned in numbers for this social occasion. On a really hot night there were lots of jigs, reels and even line dancing led by Mrs Mary McErlane and a live band. Mr Colm McCaffrey nominated himself as top dancer of the evening but was just pipped by the Principal Mr Coulter for this prestigious accolade!
Children and parents dressed up for the event with prizes going to Jay Greeves and Molly Brennan for their costumes. The Hot Dogs and drinks served by Mrs Madine and Mrs McLachlan were thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended. With many rogues and villains on the loose that evening, the Wanted Posters were very important and the winning poster was by Jessica Crowe of “Mad Michael Crowe.” The night finished at around 10:00pm with lots of tired little cowgirls and cowboys taking their parents home. It was a hugely successful evening and many thanks must go to all the members of the PTA for organising and running this event.
