Residential 2014
The children from St Joseph's travelled to The Share Centre in Fermanagh for their annual residential with Glasswater Primary School in May 2014. They stayed for 3 days and enjoyed the great company and fantastic facilities on offer.
On the first day the children were allocated their dorms and then had some free time to explore the grounds. They then completed their first activity - banana boating and Canadian canoing. Following the activity they had dinner in the canteen and then availed of the swimming pool on site!! After hours of playing, chatting, singing and running the children retired to their bunks for a good night's sleep!!!
The next morning the children rose at 8:00am for breakfast with happy, smiling and tired faces! After another activity in the morning they had the pleasure of visiting the Marble Arch Caves not far from the Share Centre. A full guided tour was given to very fascinated children and they really enjoyed the experience. On return, the children had their dinner. After a game of football or snooker, the children got dressed up in their best style for an evening disco. There was a lot of very groovy dancing taking place, not only by the children but also by the staff!!! After all the excitement the children went to sleep a little earlier then the night before!
On our final morning a lot of very tired bodies were awakened and trudged their way down to breakfast! They completed more activities including archery and the climbing wall before their last lunch. Finally they went back to school on the bus back to their waiting parents who had missed them so much!!
The children once again had a ball on the residential and their behaviour was exemplary. This was noted by all the staff who helped the children during their stay and there were many wonderful comments made about their behaviour and manners. I was so proud of every one of them and they were a real pleasure to be with on the trip. The banana boating and jumping into the lake was the most exciting part of the trip for most children and they got great enjoyment seeing Miss Flanagan and Mrs McArdle getting soaked on the banana boat! A huge thank you to Miss Flanagan for giving up her time and accompanying the children.
The Primary 6 and 7 children are already looking forward to next year! Oh and the teachers also, of course!!!
