Soccer Stars Shine!
St Joseph's PS took part in a McDonalds festival of soccer day in Kilmore playing fields on Friday 22nd October. The boys and girls played six matches in the A section of the competition competing against much larger schools in every match.
They began with a very creditable 0-0 draw against Spa PS who proved to be the top team on the day. Next up was Holy family PS which ended in a very tight 0-0 again. The local derby match followed against Cedar and despite following behind the team played really well and a goal from Conor Curran earned a 1-1 draw. The next match provided St Joseph's best performance of the day with some scintillating play from Caolan Boyle, Conor Curran and Caolan Conlon and they were rewarded in a 3-1 win. The team were now playing with lots of confidence and in the next match defeated St Joseph's PS Killough 2-0 with goals from Molly McCarthy and Conor Curran. In their final match of the day St Joseph's managed a 0-0 draw with a strong Saintfield Academy team.
The team therefore remained undefeated during the day and were delighted with their performances against strong opposition. Congratulations to our keeper Ruairi, defenders Branan, Emma, Daniel and Hannah and Niamh, midfirelders Caolan Boyle and Conor and strikers Caolan Conlon and Molly. Every child excelled and their behaviour was excellent, well done children!
